Jim Cramer vs Jon Stewart

If you really wanted to get a handle on the origin of the media “fight” between CNBC’s Jim Cramer (of Mad Money) and Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart (of The Daily Show), you might have to take a look at February 19th, 2009, where CNBC’s Rick Santelli went on a small rant about bailing out homeowners (he did it on the floor of the Chicago stock exchange). This led to a segment on The Daily Show where Stewart made fun of Santelli and CNBC overall (in response for Santelli canceling an upcoming appearance on the show).

Jim Cramer’s infamous Bear Stearns segment is particularly cringe-inducing.

It all comes culminates in Jim Cramer making an appearance on The Daily Show (Thursday, March 12th, 2009), where Cramer is pretty much eviscerated:
