Anna Nicole Dies at the Age of 39
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Memorial Regional Hospital officials say that Anna Nicole Smith died Thursday after collapsing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Several witnesses told NBC 6 that they saw paramedics giving Smith CPR at the casino at about 2 p.m. Smith was with her companion, Howard K. Stern, and her bodyguard when it happened. Officials said her baby was not with her, but she was accompanied by her husband and four others, including a nurse, Bloom said. Bloom said the hotel received a call from her nurse just after 1:30 p.m. requesting assistance. Five minutes later hotel security and emergency medical technicians responded to her room and contacted local fire and rescue teams. Smith was taken to the hospital shortly after 2:10 p.m.

“Reality star Anna Nicole Smith was found unresponsive Thursday in her Hard Rock Hotel room in Hollywood, Fla., FOX affiliate WSVN is reporting. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. According to a local report, a witness said paramedics were pumping her chest when they took her out of the hotel.
Smith’s 20-year-old son Daniel Smith died in his mother’s hospital room in the Bahamas in September, three days after she gave birth to a baby girl, later named Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern.
Smith’s current boyfriend and longtime lawyer Howard K. Stern, 38, says he is the father of Dannielynn. But Smith’s ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead, 32, claims he’s the father, and has sued to demand a paternity test.”

FOR-TV in Miami is reporting that Anna Nicole Smith has been found unresponsive in her hotel room Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Smith has been reportedly taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood Florida. Officials there told the Miami Herald, “It does not look good.”
Witnesses told CNN that they performed CPR on Smith and that an intubation tube was put down her throat.
The past year has been a turbulent one for Smith. She’s currently facing a paternity suit filed by her ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, who claims he is the father of her infant daughter, Dannielynn. She was born Sept. 7 in the Bahamas. Smith’s son, Daniel, 20, died suddenly just days after the baby’s birth.
“Larry is devastated,” Debra Opri, a lawyer for Birkhead, told CNN. “We hear it’s very serious. I’ve never heard Larry so concerned, he’s concerned about Anna and he’s concerned about the child.”
After a seven-week investigation, Broward County Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathologist Dr. Joshua Perper announced that Smith died of “combined drug intoxication” with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the “major component.” No illegal drugs were found in her system.
It was an accidental drug overdose of chloral hydrate that was made lethal when combined with other prescription drugs in her system (which included Klonopin, Ativan, Serax, and Valium). She had also taken Benadryl and Topamax, which likely contributed to the sedative effect of chloral hydrate and the benzodiazepines.
It was reported that 8 of the 11 drugs in Smith’s system, including the chloral hydrate, were prescribed to Howard K. Stern, not Smith.
Before Smith’s body was buried, it began decomposing at a faster-than-normal pace. The family ended up having a closed-casket funeral.

DNA tests prove that Anna Nicole Smith’s former boyfriend Larry Birkhead is the father of her infant daughter Dannielynn. Howard K. Stern, who had been caring for the girl, did not fight for custody.
